Names of the Week: Edlyn and Kingsley

Hello everyone! It's time for names of the week again and I quite like these two! They are both names that have royal meanings! I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do!

Edlyn
English
"princess" or "noble woman"
Not ranked in the top 1000 in 2014

Edlyn is a very rare name and it alomst sounds made up. It is a legitimate name though and it means "princess" or "noble woman". I find Edlyn's sound appealing. Many popular girls names today end in "lyn": Kaitlyn, Adelyn, Carolyn. The "Ed" sound at the beginning makes it sound a little clunky, but in my opinion, still cute.If you like Evelyn but are put off by it's popularity, Edlyn has a similar sound and I don't think it will ever become popular. You could use them name Edlyn to honor a number of different names. You could use it to honor an Ed or a Lynne. You could also use it to honor someone with a name with another royal meaning like Sarah, Regina, or Ray. Even though it changes the sound at the begining of the name, I still think the adorable nickname Edie (EE-dee) would work for Edlyn.

Kingsley
English
"king's meadow"
Ranked #760 in 2014

Kingsley is one of my favorite names! It is so handsome and regal! It's starting to catch on but it is by no means popular yet.  Kingsley entered the top 1000 in 2010 and has been rising ever since. One of the factors in Kingsley's rise in popularity is, of course, Kingsley Shacklebolt of the Harry Potter series.  He doesn't appear until later in the series but he does become very important. Related name Kingston is much more popular, currently #161. Kingsley would also be a great way to honor someone with another name with a royal meaning like Ray, Sarah, Ryan, etc. Names that end in "ley" are trending right now. The most popular "ley" names tend to be for girls but Kingsley is one that works really well for boys. King is a grand nickname but what little boy wouldn't love that? All in all, I can't tell you how thrilled I'd be to meet a baby boy named Kingsley!

For combos, I'd do Edlyn Eleanor or Felicity Edlyn and Kingsley Oliver, or Elliot Kingsley.

What do you think of the names Edlyn and Kingsley? What names would you pair them with? Let me know in the comments?
